Thorn's Story...
Thorn is a 10 month old Australian Shepherd who is always ready to play. True to the breed, he is very energetic and requires lots of exercise to keep him happy and healthy. He is also sweet and will lavish you with as many kisses as you can handle. Thorn is being introduced to house manners and learning how to keep all four paws on the floor. He is housebroken and walks well on a leash. Crate training this handsome guy is a work in progress, and a home with consistency, patience, and love will help him continue making great progress. Thorn is current with vaccinations and fostered in Middletown, PA.

We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all breed dog rescue. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $275 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $325 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. We are an all volunteer organization and we are always looking for more help. Learn more about adopting from us or volunteering for us at www.pack9rescue.org or check us out on Facebook for more information and a complete list of dogs available for adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Thorn, a New Oxford Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in New Oxford, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in New Oxford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New Oxford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New Oxford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New Oxford paves the way for another one to be saved.
