Currently Living at: shelter in SC arriving soon to the DC area and NOW HAS ADOPTERS WAITING FOR HER ARRIVAL!

Meme is a sweet little Shih Tzu Westie (?) mix who has had a tough time of it lately. But Meme is now ready and excited to come to the DC area where she is hoping her forever family will be waiting for her. This little girl dreams of a home where she will go on 3-4 walks a day, take classes with her new BFF by her side to learn some new tricks and most of to be cuddled and loved unconditionally for forever. If you have lots of extra one to give and the kind of home Meme dreams of, please contact the Coordinator (Sue) listed below.

Meme's low shedding coat will need regular trips to the groomers to be beautiful. Meme would lie to be an only doggie or wouldn't mid having a doggie sibling.

Meme Like most shelter dogs,Meme may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

MEME has tested positive and will be treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of heart worm treatment, routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please FIRST download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sue C at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
