Hazel  is an (almost) two year old female Chocolate Lab.  She is pure blood Lab and AKC registered.

We have had  Hazel  since she was a puppy. She is VERY good with kids! She's grown up with my 4 boys and is perfect with them and loves them.
She is sweet and energetic. Her tail wags like crazy every time we walk in the door. As with all Labs, she loves food (don't leave anything out within her reach!).
She doesn't do well with cats (we have one and they have a rocky relationship). She really loves to play with other dogs and I think she'd love to have a dog brother or sister.

Hazel  is spayed and up to date on all her shots. She is about 85 pounds. Chocolate coat, green eyes.

Hazel  also has very bad allergies. She gets an itchy rash all over her skin when her allergies flare up. We have worked with a vet about this most of her life. We have been just treating the symptoms when they flare up too bad and give her antibiotics and steroids. However, with time, her reactions are getting worse. We have decided to do a blood test to find out exactly what she's allergic to. Then, she will have to have allergy shots which, over time, will help minimize her allergic reactions and keep her happy and healthy. As you can imagine, this is a financial commitment. With our 4 boys our highest priority, taking on the expense of her allergy shots (on top of what we've paid so far in treating her allergies and also getting the blood test done), is simply more than we can do. We are looking to find a loving home for  Hazel  that is able and happy to help her get through this trial with her allergies. She really is a sweet girl and we want her to be happy and healthy and live a good life. Trying to provide that for her is putting a strain on us.

Whoever is able to help her through this will have the reward of a sweet and loving and loyal dog. We are sad to have to move things in this direction, but feel like it is best for all involved. We will be picky about where she goes as our only consolation is a surety that she will be happy and well cared for. We'll want to meet you and see where  Hazel  would be living before we decide anything.  She is used to a life mostly inside. She sleeps in her crate at night in our house and spends most of her days hanging out wherever we are in the house. She's truly a pack animal and loves being near us. She likes to go on walks and drives and to the dog park.

If you would like more information on  Hazel , please email or text or call. I can give you the prices of the shots, etc. Her allergy test is being done a week from today- after which we'll be able to tell you more specifics about what she's allergic to and any treatment plans.

About Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is known for their excellence in matching people with the best dog or cat that would suit their lifestyle. Today we are proud to have the largest NO-KILL shelter in Asheville. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was established in 2006. We started off as a very small group of people, taking dogs and cats from gassing shelters in GA. We found wonderful homes for these animals but realized while we were saving these particular animals, we had a much bigger problem in our community that we needed to face. Perfectly healthy, highly adoptable animals in our community are being euthanized every day. Rescued pets are not broken or damaged goods. They are wonderful animals who have ended up homeless through no fault of their own.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our facility is located at 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville, off Swannanoa River Rd, 1/2 mile from Lowe's. Open every day.

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptions will require a contract and discussions with one of our adoption counselors. Based on the needs of the particular animal, we reserve the right to require a home visit at the discretion of the adoption counselor. All our animals will be altered before adoption and up-to-date on standard vaccinations. We do collect an adoption fee.
