Facts about Ginger Rogers

  • Breed: Plott Hound/Beagle Mix
  • Color: Brindle - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, along with Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly, are 5 month old hound-mix puppies we rescued from a shelter the day there were due to be killed. They're about 20 pounds now, and we expect them to be about 40-50 pounds when they're fully grown, although we have no way to know for sure until they're adults. They're amazingly sweet, great with kids, and sooo happy to be out of the scary shelter!

Our adoption fee is $150 (normally $225 for puppies under 6 months, but the discount was sponsored by a donor), which includes spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations as of the day you take them home. They'll need additional boosters later at the adopter's expense. We wait until 6 months of age to spay/neuter puppies, because getting them fixed too early can cause more medical problems long term. We we do is called a provisional adoption, which means you can take the puppy home at 8 weeks, but we don't actually finalize the adoption until they are spayed/neutered later. You can get a free spay/neuter at First Coast No More Homeless Pets, or you're welcome to go to the vet of your choice at your own expense. Once they're spayed/neutered, then we finalize the adoption and everything is official.

If you're interested in adopting one of these puppies and would like to meet them, please submit the Adoption Application from our web site at:
