Furry Friends Network has many, many wonderful, loving cats available for adoption. Adult cats are often overlooked due to the distraction of the silly, carefree antics of kittens. To help the adult cats currently in foster care find the new homes they're waiting for, consider our special adoption fee for cats age 2 and older and add a new feline companion to your family.
Discounted adoption fee of $15 applies to cats age 2 and over. The promotion runs through November 31, 2016.
DOB: April 2014 (Attached picture of Lightning as a kitten and adult)
Siblings Lightning, Thunder, and Raina are looking for a new place to call their forever home. The cats were adopted together but their caregiver recently passed away. We’re not trying to find them a new forever home. While the cats do not have to be adopted together, they do get along and have been together since they were born. Of the three, it is most important that Lightning be adopted with at least one of them. She seems to need one of them to feel safe.
Lightning is adorable and soft-spirited. She seems to be more curious than her siblings. She loves to be talked to, and will engage in conversation when no one else (or either of her siblings) is around. Lightning can be shy at first, but when given time to warm up, she is quite loving, loyal, and precious. When Lightning was originally adopted, it took a while for her to feel comfortable with, but when Lightning’s mom fell ill and her time on earth was nearing an end, it was Lightning who stayed by her side and seemed to sense the family’s grief. They called her their 'angel cat'. Lightning is a leaper, and if cats could qualify for the Olympics, she would win the gold! She seems to be interested in food only when she's hungry, and loves to lay 'high' when sleeping. She loves shiny objects and the toy with the infrared light, and is less enamored with noisy objects. She WILL steal your jewelry (you've been warned) and bring it back to you when she's good and ready. She needs no-one to be entertained...she chases her tail and gets rather feisty with shadows or light trails that move across the room when traffic goes by.
Thunder is Lightning’s alter ego. He brags that he’s the best looking one of the bunch. He is also a jumper, but is not quite as artful about it. He plays hard, loves to make noise (he sounds like a herd of cattle going down the steps), and will typically be the first to seek out anyone who will dote on him. He is very social. He's really the only one of the three that seems to gravitate towards children, and he is drawn to men, also, though, as stated, he doesn't really have a problem getting to know anyone. He loves dark places, treats, and picking on his sisters. He seems to care about chasing the light for just a moment or two, but easily gives up, and lets his sister take over. His idea of 'play' is to make his sisters hiss at him. Thunder can be a bit ornery at times, but he's so darned affectionate that you can't stay angry at him. He loves to chew on hair: adults, kids, his sisters. He's been known to grab some and try to take off with his catch. He doesn't talk much (like Lightning), but he will cry and complain if he finds himself alone on a different floor in the house.
Raina, we've discovered is part Bengal cat. She's adorable too (at least she thinks so), and is the first to approach new people. Raina loves to give kisses. She loves to chase her little toy mice into hard to reach places (then cry until someone retrieves them). She loves to be under your feet and can be stubborn to leave a room with people in it. Raina is very, very social, and seeks anyone out. Even if someone doesn’t care for cats, she seems to sense their disregard and becomes focused on changing their minds! She loves anything with a string, especially shoes, with which she finds extra fascination by burrowing her head into (she is surprised every single time when she doesn't fit), and if you are tying your shoes, she will offer assistance. She also loves to pick up her cat toys and drop them in the water dish. She does not usually sleep on the furniture, but you are likely to find her against a wall near a window, or under a bed (especially if she is frightened). She is not a jumper like her siblings, but will jump up for windowsills and sunlight coming in the house.
None of the cats seem to jump up on much furniture. They rarely get on the table or kitchen counters, though they love the table chairs.
The siblings don’t care to be picked up, but they will nestle beside you or even curl up on your lap/chest, on their terms, of course. Thunder and Raina both love to be petted and played with. Lightning will let you know when she will permit petting, but she only wishes to be pet on the head and upper back. She will take off like a shot if you get too far down her back.
None of the cats care for rowdiness...especially among younger children. They would do best in a home with older children. They have not been around dogs.
This kitty has had her initial vaccinations, de-worming, flea preventative, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and been micro-chipped and altered (or will be micro-chipped and altered prior to adoption).
Adoption fee is 1/2 off for the second kitty adopted at same time. Adoption application, phone interview, home visit, and adoption fee required (+ PA Sales tax).
If you are interested in adopting a kitty(s), we ask that you complete an on-line adoption application to get the process started. To apply, simply go to www.furryfriendsnetwork.com / ADOPT tab / CAT Adoption Application. You will receive a welcome email once your application has been assigned to a volunteer processor (this should be within 72 hours of submitting an application). If you do not receive such an email, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Once your application has been processed (this can take approx. 10-14 days), we will arrange contact with the foster to schedule a time to meet kitties you might be interested in. We are an all volunteer organization and appreciate your patience during this process.
