From the Foster:
Norway is a gorgeous boy with a rich, chocolate coat and beautiful, golden eyes. But beyond that, he is so eager to please and learn, and you will find him to be very intelligent. It really is a shame that whoever had him before didn't see the potential and the love that this boy had to give. But he's on the right track now, and he is such a happy dog with his new life. Norway didn't seem to have been in a house before, but he really just wants to be loved and cuddled, and know that he will never be without a warm home again. He is smart enough to figure out how to go the right way around poles and trees on walks, and has been a breeze to train, learning words like off, wait, and come. He would do well in a home with other dogs, as he very much enjoys cuddling and playing. I have a pit bull, and they LOVE to play and snuggle. However, if he could find an owner that was devoted to him, he could probably be happy with dog friends and visiting dog parks as well.
I like that he has good protective instincts at home, but is very easy to walk, and is good with meeting strangers on the street. He will be suspicious of new company inside the home, but soon settles down when he realizes everyone is okay. One thing he would not be happy about is being left outside alone for long periods of time. When I first got him, he was afraid if I would shut the door behind him when he went out to pee...like maybe he wouldn't be let in. over time he has figured out that he can get back in whenever he wants, and that he is not in this danger, so I feel confident he has already worked through this. That said, he really wants to be around everyone else, getting petted and just hanging out watching TV. And I want that for him too. He really just deserves lots and lots of love and fuss. The other thing I've noticed is he can chew his tail when he is left alone and gets nervous, but I think he will work through this too.
Norway's favorite thing is one of those giant bones to chew on. He will happily plop down and chew on a bone for hours.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
