Floyd is an adorable little 5 year old maltese/terrier mix that has really had a tough time of it in his young life. He came to us from our Newark facility when he was turned in by his family who could no longer care for him. Floyd was a bit disheveled and messy, but that wasn't the worst of it. He had severe dental disease that was never treated and the poor guy must have been in quite a bit of pain for who knows how long. Our veterinarian performed an extensive dental on Floyd and had to extract all of his remaining teeth. Floyd is feeling like a brand new puppy these days, now that he is gumming it! He is a bit shy and standoffish when he first meets new people but just give him a little time and he'll be cozying right up to you. He's well behaved and walks nicely on a leash, as well as takes treats very gently. Floyd is like many of us- he likes some people, others he doesn't, so for this reason, he will need a home with no children under 12. Once he gets to know and love you he will want nothing more than to be your best friend and spend his days keeping your lap warm. Floyd has lived with other dogs and gets along just fine with smaller dogs. He is so deserving of a great home with a family that will love and care for him forever. File#26501 7/17/16
