I'm "Fantasma' and I'm a 9-month old white cat who would love to find a furrever home ASAP! I'm really a nice lady, I just don't like it here much. I like to roam free and have the run of the place. The shelter staff is very nice and try really hard--I just want a place of my own. Did you know my name means "Ghost" in Spanish. I have beautiful white fur and gorgeous yellow eyes that see all! I would love to float around your house and make it a home. Don't wait too long to come visit--I'll be whisked out of here soon!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
