A Little Bit About Me
Petey looks like a farm dog mix, Australian Cattledog and maybe Toy Fox Terrier or other smaller terrier? Smart, quick, a great size, playful, social...what else could you want?
Petey is not as tolerant to being hugged and restrained as he could be; his family should be able to understand that and even work with him on it. That would take mature children over ten. Adults should be present if other children are around to be sure he stays comfortable.
Petey is somewhat of a mystery dog with other dogs. Does he like them? Does he hate them? Which ones does he like or hate? Of course, he should not go to dog parks, and he should be carefully introduced on neutral territory to any dogs he meets to arrange play dates. You cannot prevent what other people allow their dogs to do, for instance on leash walks. But you can get him to put his attention onto you and be sure other people control their dogs.
This cute little guy is certainly worth working with while you go about your way. Stock up your toy basket for him and have a great time in your fenced yard or other safe place. Petey is capable of being an outstanding student in basic dog classes, not to mention Scenting and Agility. You might even find that you want to introduce him to herding.
