Tulip's Story...
Hi, it’s Tulip here! I’m a 6 year old sweet and loving 4 pound teacup chihuahua with a lot of spunk. I was found as a stray and my foster has learned that I can be somewhat of an escape artist. I would do best in a home with other dogs and a fenced in yard that was built with small dogs like me in mind. My foster says I could go in a home without a fence under the right circumstances, but I like to turn and run so I would always need to be on a leash. I get along with other dogs and with cats, but because of my small size I am afraid of small children. I would do great in a home with an older child who can treat me gently. I love to be carried around and mostly love snuggling up to my people’s neck. I love to go for walks and am well behaved on a leash. For being so small, I can actually walk pretty far and have walked about a mile and a half with my foster mom. I am house and crate trained if given a strong routine. Due to no fault of my own, I’ve been returned to Hearts of Hope twice. I am really hoping to find my perfect forever home this time, so please come out and meet me! Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tulip, a Grand Rapids Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Grand Rapids, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Grand Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
