Our Adoption Process...

The Guilford County Animal Shelter houses many wonderful animals who are waiting for their new homes.
We recommend that you come out to the shelter any time during our open business hours to spend time with the shelter animals.
Once you've picked a dog or cat you'd like to adopt we have a three page application you'd need to fill out, if you rent your home we would need to verify a pet policy with your landlord, and if you have other pets you'd need to provide proof of an up to date rabies vaccine. We require a valid government issued photo ID for any individual who wants to adopt an animal from the shelter.
Adult dogs are $95.00 to adopt, puppies under 6 months of age are $150.00; adult cats are $50.00 to adopt, and kittens under 6 months of age are $105.00. The adopt fee is due when the adoption application is turned in.
If the animal you've chosen to adopt is already spayed or neutered they can go home with their new families the same day; if the animal is not yet spayed or neutered it would have to stay at the animal shelter until it can be altered.
