Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Once I was loved, called by name and loved a family…..but one day in mid-July that ended for me. I was riding in a car when they pulled off a busy road here in Onslow County into a gravel turnabout and left me. No food, no water, no shelter, left alone in the darkness…why would someone do that? I am a great dog who knows commands and I am crate trained, heart-worm negative and good with other dogs, cats and great with children. I couldn’t understand what or why this was happening to me, but it must be a mistake! So being the good dog that I am, I waited for you to come back for me, but you never did. Tom who walked his dog on a daily basis finally spotted me in the woods. He could see the thinness of my frame and took pity on me in this situation. By this time, as several months had passed, I was frighten of humans and would not let them get close, as now I could not be sure what they would do to me. I would sit patiently and wait for Tom every evening walking his dog to see me and bring food. Before the hurricane hit Tom built a dog house for me which I did use and it kept me safe, but it still was very scary when that tree fell down beside me. It was the dog house that Samantha saw one day and called Jones Onslow as their number was on a huge propane tank back in this clearing where I had been deserted. They told her a man named Tom had called them also and gave Sam his number. She went to my location one day and offered me a biscuit, which I gently took from her outstretched hand. She took me home and then called OCPAW for help. I’ve been to the veterinarian in Holly Ridge and to Animal House for a greatly needed bath. So now OCPAW is reaching out for me for a temporary foster or forever home, OCPAW even stated that with my calm temperament and devotion that I would make a wonderful service dog….that tells you what a good boy I am! If you need a devoted companion or a service dog OCPAW will pay for my certification, you would have to commit to the training and classes.
Once I had a name….now I am called Champ, but my soul is called devotion.
