Facts about Penelope

  • Breed: Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Puppy
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Our darling Penelope or Pea as her foster home likes to call her. She is such a baby just like the princess and the pea and is a beautiful little girl. She will have slightly longish hair. Pretty Penelope begs for attention and who can resist her little whimpers. She is 3/4 Standard Dachshund and 1/4 Chihuahua her father is a pure dapple dachshund and mother is ½ dachshund and ½ Chihuahua. She weighed in at 4 LBS last week. Penelope and her sibling were born on 8-7-2016 ( 9 ½ weeks old). Her siblings are Winston, Jax, Eddie, Winnie and Bogey. Once you snatch Penelope up she hypnotizes you with her charms. Just look into my eyes she says I will own your heart forever. She is so soft and will most likely have long hair also. She may be a princess but don't for one minute think she isn't fierce. She can stand her ground even with the largest of her siblings. You will never regret her spell as she will devote her life to making you smile every day. With the mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua these should be very smart puppies, lol. Penelope is current on her vaccinations and will be spayed and micro-chipped before going to her adopted family. We prefer some dachshund experience. Penelope will be a wonderful companion.

Our Adoption Process...

AFCHS is a non-sheltered humane society organization modeled after some of the more progressive humane societies. We do not believe any home is better than no home, but instead, work to find the right home for each specific animal.
If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out and submit the adoption questionnaire or call 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535. ALL of the fields on the application MUST be filled out or the application will not send, if this happens your time will have been lost. If you are having trouble filling out the on-line application we can email you a copy to fill out. You can also copy the application and paste it into a word document, fill it out and then send it to us at please call us afternoons at 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535
Filling out a questionnaire is not a commitment to adopt. It does help us determine if the dog or cat you inquire about is suitable for your home and to suggest others not yet on our site.
While we have some dogs and cats at our Sanctuary most of them are in foster care or rescue homes. An application must be completed before an appointment can be set to meet them.
