Ricky is a nine year old chihhuahua mix who currently weighs about nine pounds and is looking for his forever home. He is very shy and takes a while to trust people, so a quiet home without children, or very respectful older children, would be best for him. He is quickly discovering how nice people can be and occasionally likes to cuddle. Ricky loves to burrow under a blanket where he can peek out and watch everything going on around him.
He is afraid of the doggie door but will use puppy training pads for potty time as well as go outside.
When he came to us, Ricky's teeth were in such terrible shape that they were falling out on their own. He has had a "dental" where the rest of his teeth were removed so he feels much better. Lack of teeth doesn't stop him from eating even dry kibble when he's hungry, but we feed him soft food that doesn't require lots of chewing.
The adoption fee is $150.00 which includes current vaccines, spaying or neutering and heartworm/flea preventative.
Your first step in adopting a new family member is to fill out an adoption application. The application must be completed with phone numbers and a vet reference (an old one, or a reason why there is not one) before it will be processed. Your application will not be processed without this information. Visit our website at www.humanesocietyofiredell.net to download an application. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE EMAIL firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your interest in our animals!

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply.
