**Niki is currently being fostered in Houston. Her adoption will be a long-distance, meaning, unfortunately, meeting her in person prior to the adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $500 USD, which covers her flight and her vetting appropriate to her age. Because she is too young to be spayed, her new family will sign a contract agreeing to have her spayed once she is old enough. Unfortunately, the flights are very expensive, so the adoption fee is not negotiable.**

Our sweet Niki came to us after she and her siblings were dumped at a high kill shelter by a breeder who turned them in to be euthanized because they were not "profitable" for them. We were lucky to be able to swoop them out of the shelter and to safety before they got sick at the shelter. Unfortunately, we found out after we got them into our hands, that they were also the victims of abuse.

Little Niki's leg had been broken in three places about three weeks before we rescued her and had already begun to heal. After consulting with multiple vets, we got conflicting opinions as to whether or not we should have her leg amputated as it was not healing 100% correctly. We decided to wait a bit on such an extreme decision and see how she did healing. Her leg bows out a bit and she does not bend it when she sits, but it does not appear to bother her. She runs, jumps, plays (and digs!) and is not in pain. Because of this, we have elected not to amputate and adopt her to a family with the knowledge that when she is older, this is a situation that may need addressed.

Nikki is currently about 16 weeks old and full of puppy energy and love. Our best guess on her breed mix is Staffie/Boxer - and she is the most beautiful baby girl! She will likely be in the mid 50 pound range when full grown. She loves to spend her days playing with her foster siblings and hanging out with her foster mom while she works.

Niki will be an active dog as she continues to grow and she should be adopted by a family that can commit to providing her the exercise and mental stimulation necessary to keep her fit, active, and out of puppy trouble!

While Niki is working on her house manners, she is still a young pup and is not fully house trained. She should be adopted by a family that understands that she will require patience as she continues to grow, that she will have accidents in the house, and that will help her grow into a great dog through positive reinforcement.

Niki should be adopted by a family who plans to make her a part of their family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep the dogs as outside dogs or who plan to leave them unattended for long periods of time outdoors - for example leaving them outside during the entire workday.

Niki currently lives with other dogs and loves them! She has the most amazing foster family who is working hard to socialize her and get her ready for her forever family. She has also been socialized with cats and did fine.

Niki has been fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped) and has no known health or allergy issues.

About Reggie's Friends-Boston

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. Our team will take some time to review it and once approved, a home visit is required. We require an adoption contract and an adoption fee to be paid prior to the pet joining their new family.
