Umbrella of Hope 'Be Our Pet'
Bo Duke is part of our Cats of Hazzard litter. You can follow them on their own page on Instagram @catsofhazzard.
We are raising funds to cover the costs of sending these cats to specialists here: https://www.gofundme.com/catsofhazzard or you can PayPal us at www.paypal.me/UOH
Bo was born around 7/27/2016 and has tentatively been diagnosed with microphthalmia on the right side eye plus eyelid agenesis and entropion on the left side eye AND a yet-to-be-diagnosed issue with his hips (x-rays look normal but his gait is really abnormal).
This does not stop him. He runs, scoots, climbs cat trees, wrestles with the other kitties and purrs like he has a motor in his throat. He uses the litterbox with zero issues. His only restriction is that he MUST be indoor-only unless directly supervised in a contained area (watching you garden while you are outside with him in a fenced yard and going back inside when you do).
He LOVES other cats. He has so far not been super appreciative of the dog in the foster home. He **may** be able to learn to live with a dog but we cannot make any promises.
While he is not quite ready for adoption because we are trying to get him seen by the specialists at the local Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at UC Davis to ensure that he will be fine long-term and does not need any interventions... we are accepting interest on him.
We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Normally, we expect adopters to come to us to adopt. However, we would be willing to raise the funds to escort him in the cabin of an airplane to any major US airport to get him to a forever home if that home was STELLAR or if he was going to live with someone who has the same condition (or a similar one) that he does.
We DO expect adopters of this litter to keep up on their social media accounts and this is a condition of their adoption (we can teach you) because we are huge proponents of special needs adoptions and we need animals like the Cats of Hazzard to be out there and be proud and show other people that being different is okay and that adopting an animal with special needs is NOT scary. We want people to be inspired to adopt the animals who are not 'perfect' (although perfect is relative) so that animals like Bo have the option of being adopted and not euthanized.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is free of parasites. His right eye was removed as it was blind and infected (on top of being undersized). We hope to have him evaluated at UC Davis by a specialist in the near future to see what can be done for his left eye and for his hips.
Interested parties should send a DETAILED email to email@example.com and we can start the conversation to see if your home is a good match for him and work out the details. We expect he will be ready to go to his new home in December.

Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles.
Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565)
