Sherman is available in Tx & Co through Ruff Rescue in Co. He is being fostered in Arlington Tx but transport to Co can easily arranged. He must have a house with at least a 6 ft fenced yard ( he does NOT jump fences nor dig out) and at least one permanent canine companion that is as passionate about play as Sherman is.

Sherman is a very social outgoing playful goofy yet gentle big Ole affectionate puppy that loves kids, men, women, dogs & cats. As of 8/24/16 he was 66 lbs and he is estimated to have been born February of 2016. He is tall and lanky. Sherman's passion is chase & playing tug-of-war as well as wrestling with his canine & human companions. He is living in a foster home with 4 other dogs, small and large dogs submissive and alpha. Sherman is friends with all of them. His best friend is a 100 lb Rott and 16 lb Schnauzer mix. Sherman enjoys getting in water. He went to a water park open to dogs where he had a blast being leash less with hundreds of other dogs. He got in the wave pool and he had a good ole time running around the park. He is house trained with a doggy door and he goes to his crate on command. He also knows the sit command. Sherman is very smart and he is very food motivated and easy to train. When his foster mom is not home he is crated which totals around 8 hours Monday-Friday. When his foster mom is home Sherman has run of the house inside and in the backyard. At night he typically sleeps in his foster mom's bed right next to her. He is pretty good at snuggling. While Sherman is affectionate he is not a licker, which his foster mom loves.

Sherman is a typical puppy that likes to investigate by chewing on things. His foster home sets him up for success by keeping things he should not chew on while providing lots of things he can chew on.

Sherman was saved from the Lufkin Animal Shelter on 6/5/16 and transported to the Dallas Fort Worth area where he is being fostered. Sherman was found with a hunting collar on the was tracked back to a hog hunter who trades his dogs for dog food. Sherman has zero prey drive so we think his owner dumped him because he did not have the prey drive he needed to hog hunt. Sherman was named after Sherman Texas which is where the man lived that found him on highway 59 in Luvkin. The shelter was closed so the man drove him over 2 hours away to Sherman then drove him over 2 hours back to take him to the Luvkin Shelter so his family could find him. He reached out to the rescue community to help save Sherman from euthanasia due to space since his owner chose not to reclaim Sherman.

Sherman is neutered, up-to-date on his rabies, bordatella, and distemper parvo. He is heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and microchipped with HomeAgain.
