Emily's Story...
My name is Emily and I am estimated to be around 8 years old and I weigh 5 lbs. I was found living under a shed with 4 other Chi’s after my owner abandoned us. We were found by the property owner only after he came to check on his house and heard us barking for help. We hadn’t been fed in some time and we were so dirty that it took our foster mom 4 baths each to get us clean and free from fleas.

I was very scared when I first came into my foster mom’s home but now have figured out that living inside is a good thing. I even went to a Pet Expo this past weekend and really enjoyed all of the attention that I got from people who loved on me.

I’m not house trained but seem to be crate trained and I really enjoy going outside. I am UTD on my shots, on heartworm preventative, spayed and I’ve also had a dental.

If you’ll be patient with me while I get to know you, I’ll be a great addition to your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emily, a Durham Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Durham, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Durham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Durham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Durham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Durham paves the way for another one to be saved.
