Hunter is a two year old Treeing Walker Coonhound. He still has some puppy in him and loves the outdoors. He does require a forever home with a fenced-in backyard, but he is an indoor pet. Hunter loves dogs of all sizes and does well with cats. Before Hunter came to us he was in a home with small children and he didn't do too well with them just because of his size and his tail. Hunter is ready to go to his forever home. He is neutered, vaccinated, including rabies, and has a microchip. His favorite things are blankets, small (cat) toys (that he like to steal and hide), and back scratches.

At CARE Pet Rescue, our pets live in homes so they are ready for yours.

About CARE Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

CARE Pet Rescue is a volunteer-run, animal rescue that saves stray and abandoned dogs and cats from euthanasia or further abuse and neglect. With no boarding facility or shelter of our own, CARE pets live in local homes where they receive medical care and rehabilitation to get them ready for their forever homes. CARE Pet Rescue seeks not only to place dogs into loving homes, but also to educate dog owners about responsible pet ownership.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to about one hundred animals every year, provide them with loving care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened, forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

At CARE Pet Rescue, we are working towards our federal, non-profit status. Some of the proceeds and adoption fees will go to the process of acquiring our 501(c)3 designation. No board members or employees at CARE Pet Rescue are paid a salary. Their time with the rescue, whether it be in an administrative role or working directly with the animals, is volunteer only.

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt your new best friend from CARE Pet Rescue, you will need to submit an adoption application. Our adoption fees are as follows:

Dogs & Puppies:
Under 1 year - $175
1 - 6 years - $150
7 years plus - $125

Cats & Kittens:
Under 1 year - $55
1 - 9 years - $45
Senior cats - $35

We do not process applications and adopt out on a first-come-first-serve basis. We look for the best match based on a lot of factors to help ensure that our pets are going into loving, forever homes. We look at your application and make sure that you are allowed a pet in your home, so that our rescues do not find themselves being surrendered and moved again someday. Once the application is approved, we come to your home and make sure that the home is safe for our rescue pet and that everyone in the home gets along well with them, including other pets.
Our pets live in foster homes and not in a shelter environment. In their homes, they are treated like the families' pets and they work on basic skills and house training. If you would like to meet one of our pets, we can schedule it with the foster family and meet wherever you feel comfortable.
