Rachel's Story...
Hi there! My name's Rachel, what's yours? I'm around 9 years old, and am a shepherd mix. I'm looking for a new family....could YOU be the one I'm waiting for??

I didn't come to the shelter because I was unloved and unwanted by my family. Unfortunately, my owner recently passed away, which left me without a home. I didn't come to the shelter alone though. My best friend Mickey is here too. Mickey is a 14 year old jack russell mix, who is also very sweet and friendly. We've been together my whole life, and we would really like to find a new home where we can continue to live together. I just don't know what I'd do without him!!

Before I go to my new home I will be up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and will also have a microchip. All I need is someone who is willing to open their heart to the love of a senior dog. Does that sound like something you could do? The shelter is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-5, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8, and Saturday from 10-2. Come visit us!

You can see some of our adoptable pets almost every Saturday at the Petsmart in Greensburg from noon to 6pm and some Sundays too. All adoption fees include spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rachel, a Youngwood Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
