Hey guys! I am Maximus, or "Max" for short. I am a young male Blue Heeler approximately 1-2 years old. I came to BAS because my person didn't want me anymore. The shelter staff believes I was mistreated by a man because of how I react to most men. I had open sores and hair loss on my back and around my neck. The shelter staff immediately began taking care of me, gave me medicines to clear my wounds and help my hair grow back. I was not familiar with this kind of treatment so I really didn't know how to react. Once I begn feeling a little better, I recieved vaccinations, a rabies shot, and have been neutured. I am a very handsome Heeler now! While in shelter care, the lady shelter supervisor checked on me daily. Again, I was not used to this kind of treatment and apprecitated her compassion. I really like her but she cannot keep me because she has other dogs and I prefer to be alone. My heeler breeding makes me a little "nippy" so children would not understand my behavior. I am smart, know a few commands, and will be an excellent protector. I prefer to be with a female owner that is experienced with my breed. There must be someone out there that will give me the chance to show what a great companion I can be. Because of my background, and how I was treated before, my hope of making it out of the shelter is limited. Please give me that chance. I don't want to be euthanized when I have so much to offer. Love, Max!!

Act quickly to adopt Maximus. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.
