Perla's Story...
My name is PERLA - A405051. I am a Grey or;blue Chihuahua. I am 6 years old and am searching for a new home with someone quiet and patient. Perla was an owner surrender, not her fault, stuff just happens. She is very scared and we are working with her to build her confidence in us and help her become adoptable. Perla has been at the shelter since September 30th. Update: Dec.10th: Perla is liking her people friends at the shelter, but not so much other dogs. We know she lived with other dogs before, so she should be okay with them. She still needs lots of confidence building and patience.

1-6-2017: Perla has moved into a foster home to help continue to grow and work toward her goal of a forever home.

This sweetheart has come such a long way since she has been at the shelter. For the past 3 months, staff and volunteers have worked with Perla to help her gain confidence and to trust people. She has won over the hearts of everyone who meets her and is a favorite of all. Now in foster care, she will blossom even further. She is gentle, mellow, quiet and a charmer. Not only is she adorable, but she has a wonderful demeanor. Boy does she love treats so that is the way to her heart. Perla is 6 years old. Ask the shelter about meeting her. You won’t be sorry.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Perla, a Santa Maria Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Santa Maria, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Santa Maria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Maria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Maria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Maria paves the way for another one to be saved.
