New! Arrives in late October.

Hi I'm Lorelei! Through no fault of my own I fell on hard times and wound up in the shelter in a neglected state. But since I was rescued, I can see that my life is going in a whole new direction and I am feeling much better. I am a somewhat reserved but very affectionate girl who is 4-5 years old looking for the family who will never again let me down. It's obvious to my foster mom that I have been starved at some point because I eat every meal like I am never going to see food again. For this reason if I go into a home with another dog, I will need to eat in a crate alone for awhile until I figure out that food is always coming around. It's a very fixable thing! I walk so nicely on a leash and I sit on command! I might be ok with a cat since they don't really interest me and I don't try to chase them. I am a sweet soul who just needs my place in the world and some kind people who can help me know that I will never miss another meal! (Note from Lorelai's foster: Lorelei continues to be a big sweetheart. I messed with her food bowl and even felt comfortable putting my hand in while she was eating. Zero reaction. Her food guarding is limited to other dogs. She is a delight to be around and has great leash manners! Very adoptable.)

Lorelai was found as a stray in Kentucky. This sweet girl is 4-5 years old and 74 lbs. and is polite to everyone. Please visit our web site at http://www.4theloveofdog.org for all adoption information.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters need to fill out an adoption application. References will be checked and a home visit conducted. Potential adopters need to ensure that any current pets and all family members meet with us prior to any adoption. Adopters are responsible for confirming with their homeowners insurance company that there will be no lapse in coverage with a rottweiler or pitbull on premises. Adopters are also responsible for confirming that there is no breed specific legislation in their community.

Processing adoption applications involves our volunteers' time and resources. We ask that you REVIEW OUR ADOPTION CONTRACT which outlines training, housing and fencing requirements BEFORE YOU APPLY. If agreeing to all of the terms in the contract is not something you are willing to comply with, please do not apply.

We prefer our dogs to be placed in northern New England because that's where we are physically. We will extend our adoptions to the immediate surrounding states including northern New Jersey and New York based on volunteer availability.

In accordance with the regulations set forth by the Department of Agriculture in New Hampshire, For the Love of Dog considers our "coverage area" to be New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.
