Hi! I am Dixie! I hear there are alot of nice families in DC looking for pup just like me! I am so excited! I am looking forward to having a family that will play with me and maybe throw a ball for me, but I may not catch it.  I have alot of energy since I am still a pup and like to go to a dog park and run around with other dogs and act crazy. :) This way I can use all my puppy energy up! I am also looking forward to taking long walks because I am very curious (and excited!)  you know and want to see everything and hear and experience it too! If you are interested in me, please contact the nice lady below and she will hook us up! Oh, I was told to tell you that I am okay with kids and cats too!  I just love people and will follow you around like the star struck pup I am!

Like most puppies, Dixie will need to work on her housetraining. Dixie will also need to go to obedience school so she can grow into a well-socialized dog!

Due to a puppy's need for attention and frequent bathroom excursions, we do not adopt dogs under 5 months of age to homes where no one is home during the day. This means no 9-5ers, unless you commit to hiring a dog walker to come multiple times a day.

I'm just a little guy so I'll need lot's of looking after.  I'm sorry to say that if you work 9-5 away from home you aren't a good fit for me unless you can show documentation of a multiple times a day dog walker.

The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Kathy at

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
