Meet Optimus! This handsome boy is a 2 year old shepherd mix, weighing in at approximately 40 pounds. Optimus found himself at the shelter through no fault of his own and is looking for a forever family to give him the love and attention he deserves! Could it be  yours?

Optimus is a lively and playful dog, so he’ll require an active family that will provide him with plenty of exercise and playtime! He will need both mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis to keep him happy and healthy.  He would love to go on long walks and hikes, and take trips to the dog park so he can socialize with his canine friends. And of course, upon returning home, he'd love to shower his new forever family with plenty of cuddles and kisses!

Update from his overnight foster:  'Optimus is a super love bug! He is a super sweet boy that loves to play and get loved on!'  The foster also took some great shots of Optimus.

Although Optimus gets along well with other dogs, we haven't had a chance to see him interact with kids or cats yet. If you have them, let us know, and we'll do our best to find out!  Optimus is also looking forward to attending obedience school to hone in his doggie manners and impress his new family.

Like most shelter dogs, Optimus may need a refresher on house-training. He is likely crate trained, but according to his foster, he had a tough time being content in the crate in the one night he was with her, so may need a little adjusting to that.  Optimus hopes you will want to take him home with you!

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Lowell N at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
