Internet, meet Ax! Ax is a 2-3 year old border collie mix weighing in around 50 lbs. He is a full sized guy, and extremely smart!

Ax does great with other dogs, and also with kids. He looks forward to a family to call his own, and for someone(s) to take him on some nice long walks and give him plenty of exercise. He also would not be opposed to a world filled with endless belly rubs and biscuits.

Ax has not yet been tested with cats, but the nice people at Lucky Dog would be happy to do that, if you have a kitty at home. He also would be really happy to be taken to obeidence classes so he can show off how smart he really is! Like most shelter dogs, Ax may need a refresher on house training, but he is likely crate trained.

Ax has tested positive and will be treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.

The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter and heart worm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Kyndra at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
