Clara Cougs's Story...
This beautiful, Isabella colored girl is Clara Cougs. Clara was surrendered to DREAM when her owner could no longer care for her. She is five years old and weighs 17 lbs. Other than being slightly over weight, she is a healthy girl. She has been on continuous monthly heartworm preventative and has tested negative for heartworms. She hasn't spent much time outside, but she is trained to go on a pad. She is also crate trained and gets along well with other dogs if introduced properly. We're told she isn't comfortable around young children or men, but her foster mom is just getting to know her. Clara is really a good dog and loves her zebra toy that she wants with her in her crate every night!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Clara Cougs, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
