Hendrix Heisman's Story...
This little guy is Hendrix Heisman. Hendrix and his three brothers became DREAM Dachsies when their human family in San Antonio, was being fined for owning too many dogs inside the city limits. These four boys are two years old. Although they were family pets, they had never been to a vet, nor are they trained to walk on a leash. They've only known one life and now that's been turned upside down. Rather than allowing the boys to end up in a shelter, their owners chose to surrender them to rescue, improving their chances of being adopted into Dachshund loving forever families. Their temporary foster parents agreed that the boys would benefit being placed in different foster families to help socialize them better. They also said the four got along fine with all their personal dogs, although they are just a little scared and a bit confused right now. All are heartworm negative, but they did have fleas, so they are on antibiotics for signs of flea dermatitis/allergy. Hendrix is small, between 10 - 11lbs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hendrix Heisman, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
