Toby Telstar's Story...
This little man is Toby Telstar. Toby became a DREAM Dachsie when we received a call from his "grandma." Sadly, his humans had split up and his "mom" moved away and left him behind. His "dad" works out of town most of the time, so he was unable to keep and care for this sweet little 6 year old. His grandma wished she could keep him, but her senior Dachsie, who is very territorial, does not like other dogs. She tells us Toby listens well, is house broken and uses a doggy door. He is ok in a crate and loves to sit in your lap. In a word, she tells us he is really adorable. We are honored that DREAM was chosen to help find Toby a loving forever home to help him heal from the loss of the only family he knew!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Toby Telstar, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
