Currently Living at: shelter in SC, Taco will be arriving in the DC area on 10/15 and will need a  forever home to come to!

Special adoption considerations: no young kids, due to size

Hello, my name is Taco and I'm a 2 year old, 14 pound, male Chihauhau mix looking for a home to call my own. People tell me I'm little but I think I'm the perfect size! The nice people at the shelter in South Carolina say that I'm very sweet and I'm super glad that I ended up here because now I get to go all the way to DC and maybe even get to meet you! I've made lots of doggie friends here at the shelter, but it's kind of noisy and crowded, so I'm hoping my forever family finds me soon.. I haven't met any cats or kids yet, but I'm willing to give it a try. Bigger kids would be best for my little size I suppose.

I'd love to have my own little bed and maybe a few squeaky toys and treats. Every night I make a wish that I will find my very own family to love forever and ever! I wouldn't ask for much and I would give lots of snuggles and kisses in return, I promise! Do you need more snuggles and kisses in your life? Please let the coordinator listed below (Sue) if you think I might be the perfect fit for your family. I'll be waiting!

Like most shelter dogs, Taco may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please FIRST download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sue C at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
