This dog is being fostered in Staten Island, NY.

This long legged beauty is Trixie!  She is approximately 1 year old, 15 lbs, and has lots of energy.  She LOVES toys, playing and cuddling with her foster family.  She gets along with her fur foster brothers and sister.  Although, she does need to learn some manners when playing with them.  But, she is very submissive and will roll over to show her belly if she thinks they are mad at her.  She is not cat tested.  Based on her playful attitude, she would probably want to play, and therefore, chase them.  She likes to go for walks.  However, she is still working on her leash manners at this time.  She loves to run and would make someone a great running partner, or would do well at agility.  She is fast, jumps high, smart and willing to learn.  Trixie would do well in an active home, and a home with a fenced yard.  She needs room to stretch her beautiful long legs.  She would also do well with another young, playful dog.  She has not yet been around any children.  But, she is so friendly with all, she would probably love them.  Trixie is house trained and working on crate training.  For photos of this cute girl in her foster home,  click here:

About Rat Terrier ResQ - CT

About Our Rescue Group...

Rat Terrier ResQ is a national all-volunteer Rat Terrier dog rescue group committed to saving Rat Terriers in need. These dogs are special loving creatures and, at times, end up with people who don't understand them. These Rat Terriers may end up in shelters after having been abandoned, neglected or abused. We work to get them safe, loved, and healthy -- and then find them the real forever homes they so rightly deserve.. Learn more about us at our website:

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because all of our dogs are located in a network of foster homes across the U.S. and southern Canada, we do not have a shelter or other public location. Visit our website at to see all of our available dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

All inquiries about Rat Terrier ResQ dogs need to go through our applications team. We go through a careful process to ensure that this will a permanent, loving relationship.

Your patience and understanding is appreciated throughout the process. Feel free to ask questions and email back and forth as much as you like with the dog's foster parent. You will also receive a phone call from an Applications Coordinator for an interview and a Home Visit Coordinator will be working to set up a Home Visit.

Once you are approved to adopt your new family member, we will send you an adoption contract to read, sign, and send back along with your adoption fee ($150 for adult dogs; $175 for puppies under 6 months). After your contract has been received, we will work with you to arrange transport to get your new family member home to you!
