My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a gentle, laid-back companion for relaxed walks and couch time? Sonny (who answers to Toby) would be delighted to help you with that. He’s got 14 years of experience providing companionship, company, and quality time.
Sonny loves to give and receive attention! Want to rub his head and scratch his belly while you hangout? You got it. Want some company while you do housework? He’ll be right there. When he’s had enough, Sonny likes to settle down on a soft bed (or your bed, or the couch, or a comforter on the floor...you get the picture) and take a nap. Because he enjoys attention Sonny would be happiest in a home with other dogs or with humans who are home quite a bit. He’s generally a quiet guy, but he will sing the song of his people (a fine clear bay) when you come home.
Sonny shares his foster home with a 10-year-old female beagle and four cats. He plays nicely and shares toys, beds, etc. with the resident beagle, and tends to follow her lead with regard to house manners. He’s respectful of the cats, if occasionally curious, and will back off if someone doesn’t want to be sniffed or otherwise investigated. He's happiest hanging out in the yard (bonus points if there's a sunbeam and some foliage for him to lie in) or on the couch near the other beagle or one of his people.
Sonny is not at all destructive (did we mention that he appreciates a good nap?) and he has the run of the house. Sonny is housebroken, but he needs to go out several times a day. For this reason, he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day, or at doggy daycare, or with a daily visit from a dog walker. He uses a pee pad when he's crated.
Sonny has some discomfort in his hips, but with appropriate medication (which he takes in his food without any fuss) he is comfortable and enthusiastic about moving around. He has no trouble with stairs, climbing in and out of garden beds, or hopping onto the couch when invited.
