You know how sometimes you get so comfortable with a person, you can sit in total silence together and still enjoy each other's company? That's Gibson. He has a way of making every person feel like he or she is his favorite person.
The best thing about Gibson is how connected to people he is. When he is walking on a leash, he always checks in. When he wants some pets, he nicely asks for them with a meaningful look. If you like to sunbathe out on your porch, he is very content to laze beside you, taking in the world. There is something sort of zen about him that is catching.
Wherever Gibson was before, it doesn't seem as if he's had much training or socialization with other dogs. So the best home for Gibson is one where he is the only pet, and with owners who can take the time to catch him up on basic house and obedience training. He's been a quick learner in the shelter environment, learning how to patiently wait to be leashed before leaving his kennel, etc.
He would love to have a yard, but a nice daily walk would be fine, too. He has not spent extended time with kids, but we think there is potential for him to be a good family dog. We haven't observed him around cats.
Gibson has a unique look and a charming personality that draws you in. He makes everyone feel so special, he deserves a family that makes him feel special, too. Is it yours?
And remember, all APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the life of the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
