Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shadow is a 5-7 year old poodle mix. He weighs about 22 lbs and comes to Rover Rescue from a shelter in southern Indiana. Shadow is a very sweet boy who just loves to be with his person. His name not only matches his gray coloring, but his personality as well. He follows me everywhere I go- even outside, he is always right behind me. He loves to sit next to me on the couch and sleep in my bed at night. Shadow gets along well with the low key female dogs in my house, as well as the cats. He is working on his house training and doing well. He does not crate well and gets extremely anxious in the crate. I don't think Shadow saw much of the world before coming to my house, and doesn't have a lot of confidence. He takes his cues from the other dogs in the house, and will need a forever home with another even-tempered dog to help him feel safe. He has met young children and although he is not aggressive to them, he does not seem comfortable with their fast movements and "in your face" actions. He takes a while to warm up to new people, but once he knows you are safe, he will love you forever.
When Shadow came in to the shelter he was matted and had burrs in his coat, because of this he has been shaved down. His hair is starting to come back in and is very soft! Once his hair gets longer, he will need regular brushing as well as trips to the groomer to prevent the mats from coming back. Shadow is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and tested negative for heartworm. Shadow did see the vet recently and was diagnosed with a Grade 3 (out of 5) heart murmur. This does not bother him now but it is something to monitor as it can potentially get worse and need medical intervention. Shadow's dream home would be on the quieter side, with another dog to help him feel safe, and he would love to have someone home with him most of the day. Shadow is a sweet boy looking for a home that will love him as much as he loves them! His adoption fee is $200.
