And now, a few words from me:

If you are looking for a handsome, distinguished fellow with gorgeous flowing locks who is slightly “vertically challenged” and who loves to show his goofy side to his closest confidantes; then I’m your man!  I am looking for a family with lots of time to spend with me and give me the petting and cuddles and walks that I know I deserve.  I am ready to meet you, apply soon!

And now, a few words from my foster mom:

Charlie is an absolutely gorgeous chocolate and tan dachshund.  But don’t let those good looks fool you, he’s got a mischievous personality and will entertain you with his antics.  He loves to be active – he is happiest when he has several good, brisk walks every day, and can keep up with the fastest of walkers even with his little legs.  He would also make a great companion on your daily errands as he is a good passenger on car rides.  He definitely appreciates frequent cuddles, and has been known to sit absolutely still for up to 30 minutes while being petted (that’s when his foster mom’s hand gave out, not when Charlie moved away!).

Charlie came from a home that didn’t have enough time for him, and he was crated for most of the day.  As a result, he really does not like to be alone, so someone who is home most of the time would be ideal for him.  He would be fine as an “only dog” provided he has his people home most of the time, or would also be fine with another well-socialized dog for companionship.  He is a true hound -  he loves to sniff the new smells on his walks, and can occasionally be a bit vocal when feeling lonely or trying to get your attention, so apartment or condo living would not be suitable for him.  He seems to get along with most well-behaved dogs, is fine with the cat in his foster home, and is polite when meeting new people.  We are working on his potty training, and while he is in the house he is very comfortable wearing a “belly band” just in case he has an accident.

Charlie would love a home with few stairs as he doesn’t seem comfortable with long flights, but he can certainly navigate a few without a problem.  Despite being offered a set of pet stairs, he takes great delight in taking a running start to fly up onto the couch, which is highly entertaining!

If this handsome boy looks like the dog for you, apply soon, he won’t be available for long!

Our Adoption Process...

In order to adopt from us, you need to complete an adoption application. Follow this link

Once the application is completed, it will be reviewed for suitability, and if yes, we will book a telephone interview with you, and check the veterinary and personal references that you provided. If that goes well, a home visit will be booked, and if your home is safe, the adoption can proceed. You will be required to execute and adoption contract and pay a set adoption fee
