Meet the lovely senior basset mix Clara!
Clara is about 10 years young and has come to OBHR with some medical issues. She would not walk at all for the VA shelter where she came from and they thought she might need a wheel chair because of back issues. Then Clara walked for us! After being examined by our vet it appears that she sustained a serious injury to one of her legs that was never treated, so it healed improperly. They think she may have been hit by a car.
Clara is going to rehab with our vet for awhile until they determine the best course of action for her leg. If physical therapy does not help, she might need to have the leg amputated, and if she still has trouble walking, we have a volunteer who offered to buy her a wheelchair should we need to go down that road.
Clara will be moving to a foster home in Deerfield, MI once she is cleared by the vet. Her future foster momma is her current point of contact for this sweetie!
