My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreonna is a beautiful 2 year old harlequin female with natural ears. She's 102 pounds and has an incredibly sweet temperament. Oreonna cam to MAGDRL through no fault of her own. She was being bullied by the older dominant female Dane in her home. When she first came to her foster home she was terrified and pressed herself against the door and outside gate. She was a real flight risk the first few days, but she quickly warmed up to the people in the home and now runs freely in the backyard. She shows no interest in her Dane foster siblings but coexists nicely with them. She has the sweetest temperament, we were able to clip her nails the very first day and she just put her head my lap. She has the softest fur I've ever felt on a Dane, her favorite thing is to have you pet her face and tell her how beautiful she is and when you stop she will gently put her paw on you and look in your eyes. She is an extremely mellow laid back girl, she can handle a noisy active household but has no interest in participating. I feel Oreonna will blossom in a home with no dominant dogs. If you are looking for a dog to be a playmate for your current pup she is not your girl. She would be fine with children but she would not be interested in playing so much as snuggling on the sofa/bed. She has been left at home both in and out of the crate and has done fine either way. She does not seem to have anxiety when left alone. She is most excited and animated when it's feeding time. She will sit and wait to be told when to eat and I can put my hand in her bowl with no reaction. Oreonna pulls on leash some and would benefit greatly from an obedience class to build her confidence and establish a bond with her new family. An obedience class will be required of her adopter. I think the best word to describe this girl would be "DARLING" she is a wonderful, gentle, loving companion. Her spay and gastropexy are scheduled for October 25th, so she will not be available for adoption for approximately 2 weeks afterwards while she heals.

MAGDRL adopts to eastern NY, NJ, eastern PA, DE, MD, DC, WV and VA only. Please see our site for adoption and fencing requirements. www.magdrl.org
