Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Meet our cute as a 'Button' girl who is 5 years old. She weighs about 10lbs. She has a non-shedding coat that may be an option for those with allergies and most definitely for those who want a dog who doesn't shed. She has been groomed so it's been cut down but she will require regular grooming once it grows out. She was originally adopted from the shelter by a family. The folks who adopted her had small children and Button was just not a match for little ones. She is better suited to be someone's lap dog and to be in a home where if there are kids they are older (over the age of 12) or to be in an adult home. She never bit anyone or anything but she didn't appreciate the energy of small kids and their youthfulness. She's a girl who is settled and wants that calmer type of environment.
Button likes to sleep in in the morning. (Oh a dog after my own heart!) Her previous mom said she often had to wake her up and get her going...Gotta love that! Button gets along with other dogs. She is currently living in a foster home with other dogs. She previously lived with a Schnauzer she would play with. She also likes playing with stuffed toys. She discovered the toy box yesterday at her foster home and oh brother! There were toys everywhere and she was in heaven. She is a total lap dog. She would be perfectly happy hanging out with her people on the couch, under their desk, in their office, where-ever. She trails after them around the house and likes to be in the same room without being over the top anxious or anything...
Button's former home says that she is housetrained. We like to stay away from saying that simply because we know in every home dogs have a different routine and often have accidents initially. Clearly she is capable of adapting to a routine and doing well. She never had an accident in her previous home. She has done well in her current foster home. She is also 100% crate trained. She is not a barker at all. She could be an option to live in an apartment or condo setting.
Button is best suited for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
