Greta's Story...
Gorgeous Greta is a great gal - all goofiness and goodness! Greta is 3 1/2 month old Black and Tan Coonhound puppy, likely purebred. She arrived at ACL as a stray, if you can believe it, and she's spent the last week or two enjoying her time being the center of attention here at the shelter. This lady is sweet and playful to the max, with none of the puppy mouthiness that usually characterizes this age (knock on wood!). She's a big puppy who's grown a lot in a short time, so her adopters should plan for a big adult dog. She'll do great with a family with children, other dogs, or cats - she can learn anything at this impressionable age! Coonhounds are working dogs by nature, so her adopters should be prepared for lots of exercise and adventures. It's going to be awhile before this lady is a couch potato! She'll need a caretaker who is home regularly to work on training and give her lots to do, but she's sure to enrich your life for years to come.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Greta, a Oak Park Black and Tan Coonhound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Black and Tan Coonhound for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Black and Tan Coonhound puppy from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Black and Tan Coonhound breeders who help with Black and Tan Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
