Arrival Story: Waggin' Tails found Gizmo at Detroit Animal Care and Control. After meeting and playing with Gizmo we knew we had to help this happy dog find a great new family.
Approximate Age/Weight: 1-2 years / 45 lbs.
Personality: Gizmo is a silly, playful little bundle of brindle happiness. We met him at the shelter where he won over one of our volunteers during a play session. Gizmo has a gentle mouth and takes treats gently and drops toys easily. He loves toys and peanut butter Kongs. Gizmo is currently living in a kennel until a foster home opens up for him.
Gizmo is a confident dog who really enjoys time with people, is making good eye contact and checking in with his handler on walks. He is a leaner, and will curl into you for some pets. At the park, he is not reactive to other dogs or people/kids walking or riding bikes. While Gizmo likes to lead on walks he is not uncontrollable and took to wearing a harness easily. Giz is adventurous and likes to explore and follows his nose wherever it goes. He is good on car rides (needs to be secured or he’ll be trying to drive) and at the vet’s office. Gizmo is treat motivated and wants to learn.
We are unsure if Gizmo is fully house-trained as he is currently residing at a kennel until a foster home opens up. He is doing a good job at keeping his kennel clean and he is a smart boy.
Forever Home: Gizmo could fit into many different home situations. He would likely knock over a little one with his bouncy, happy-go-lucky nature so older kids would be best.
