Arrival Story: Waggin' Tails found Gizmo at Detroit Animal Care and Control. After meeting and playing with Gizmo, we knew we had to help this happy dog find a great new family.

Approximate Age/Weight: 3 years / 55 lbs.

Personality: Gizmo is a silly, playful little bundle of brindle happiness. We met him at the shelter where he won over one of our volunteers during a play session. Gizmo loves toys, eating meals out of Kong toys and chewing on bully sticks. He does act puppyish and still sometimes mouths hands when playing (no biting, just mouthing) so we're working on that.

Gizmo has good house manners and hasn't played with anything other than his toys in the house. He took to crate training easily.

Gizmo is a fun dog who really enjoys time with people, is making good eye contact and checking in with his handler on walks. He is a leaner, and will curl into you for some pets or sit on your lap for snuggle time. Giz is adventurous and likes to explore and follows his nose wherever it goes. He wears a harness on walks. Gizmo is good on car rides but needs to be secured or he’ll be trying to drive otherwise. Gizmo is treat-motivated and wants to learn and is super smart. He is more busy-body than couch potato and likes to know what is going on the house so he'll tag along when you do chores and likes to hang out in the yard, watching and listening. Not much of a watchdog, though.

Forever Home: Gizmo could fit into many different home situations. He would likely knock over a little one with his bouncy, happy-go-lucky nature so older kids would be best. He is young and still needs a good amount of playtime.
