I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
This is Jake (HWTH#16352A). He is a Siberian Husky mix, DOB: 12/12/12. Jake weighs approximately 75 pounds and stands 23 inches at the shoulders. He and his companion dog (Lucy Lu) were relinquished to Halfway to Home because their owner (a disabled vet) passed away. They are being fostered in a home with cats. The cats don't like the dogs, but the dogs accept the cats. Jake is very attached to Lucy Lu and it might be nice if someone with a large piece of secure property could adopt them together. But if that is not possible, perhaps having a companion dog that would play with Jake might be a good substitute. Jake is a very loving boy who likes to give small kisses. He will need an owner willing to give him the love, good-quality human companionship and exercise needed to keep Jake fit and out of mischief and from getting bored. Jake is a vocal dog, is good with children older than 10 years of age and will need a secure back yard with fencing made of something other than chain link (or look into electric fencing devices) since he can jump fences. When Jake is thoroughly settled in his new home, he will benefit from basic obedience training mostly for bonding purposes. Once Jake has bonded with his new owner, he will make an entertaining and loving canine companion. Jake is crate trained and house trained. For more information on Jake, please contact Suzanne at tele # 661-824-4495.
Halfway To Home was formed in 2001 due to the need in the Antelope Valley to rescue the many homeless, helpless pets. We have animals from individuals who have to give up pets, and from animal shelters that have darling individuals who need to be spared euthanasia. There are puppies coming from individuals who did not spay and neuter in a timely manner. Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 512 Rosamond, CA 93560 or you can visit us on our web site at www.halfwaytohome.net and make a donation through PayPal.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Come and see us every Saturday & Sunday, rain or shine from 1 to 5 PM at the Westside Palmdale Petsmart, located on 10th Street West, next to Trader Joe's, just south of Rancho Vista Blvd (Avenue P).
We are in need of volunteers to help out at our pet adoptions at PetSmart in west Palmdale on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. If interested, please visit us during our adoption hours at the west Palmdale PetSmart or call Suzanne at 661-824-4495.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption procedure includes an application to make sure the dog and the people will be a good match, an adoption fee to cover the cost for shots, spaying or neutering, and a home check. Halfway to Home dogs are adopted out to be part of the family, and many of them are housetrained, if not, we ask that you are willing to undertake that task. Our dogs are intended to be indoor/outdoor family members. Doggie doors are a plus.
