This is Lucy Lu (HWTH#16351A). She is a Border Collie mix, DOB: 12/12/12. Lucy Lu weighs approximately 50 pounds and stands 22 inches at the shoulders. She and her companion dog (Jake) were relinquished to Halfway to Home because their owner (a disabled vet) passed away. They are being fostered in a home with cats but they have shown that they don't like cats. (Lucy Lu is now at the rescue.) Lucy Lu is extremely sweet and likes affection. She seems to have a calm personality and has had some obedience training (she walks pretty well on leash) but does need an owner who can keep her from getting bored. Lots of love, good-quality human companionship (perhaps a dog sport or hiking), regular daily exercise and playtime will be a must. She will benefit from positive basic obedience training mostly for bonding purposes. Once she has bonded with her new owner, she should make an amazing canine companion. Lucy Lu will need to have a very secure backyard with fencing other than chain link (or look into electric fencing devises) since she can jump fences. Lucy Lu is crate trained and house trained. About Halfway to Home

About Our Rescue Group...

Halfway To Home was formed in 2001 due to the need in the Antelope Valley to rescue the many homeless, helpless pets. We have animals from individuals who have to give up pets, and from animal shelters that have darling individuals who need to be spared euthanasia. There are puppies coming from individuals who did not spay and neuter in a timely manner. Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 512 Rosamond, CA 93560 or you can visit us on our web site at and make a donation through PayPal.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Come and see us every Saturday & Sunday, rain or shine from 1 to 5 PM at the Westside Palmdale Petsmart, located on 10th Street West, next to Trader Joe's, just south of Rancho Vista Blvd (Avenue P).

We are in need of volunteers to help out at our pet adoptions at PetSmart in west Palmdale on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. If interested, please visit us during our adoption hours at the west Palmdale PetSmart or call Suzanne at 661-824-4495.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption procedure includes an application to make sure the dog and the people will be a good match, an adoption fee to cover the cost for shots, spaying or neutering, and a home check. Halfway to Home dogs are adopted out to be part of the family, and many of them are housetrained, if not, we ask that you are willing to undertake that task. Our dogs are intended to be indoor/outdoor family members. Doggie doors are a plus.
