Stewart and his siblings Gidget and Gadget were rescued from a high-kill shelter outside San Diego when it was decided that their time was up. All three kittens were born with ingrown eyelashes that were causing corneal abrasions and required surgery; when Rescue House was the only group who agreed to help them, a volunteer who had championed their cause drove them down from Central California and they got the surgeries they needed. Stewart’s eyelashes were growing inward and scraping his corneas—they were removed through cryosurgery. While it was originally thought that Stewart was blind, subsequent checks have indicated that he does have sight in both eyes.

It would be a hard job to find a sweeter kitty than Stewart. He adores attention and goes boneless in your arms... you are planning to keep on holding him, right? Upside down, right side up, he doesn’t care so long as you’re loving on him. When he’s not hitting you up for pets, playing is Stewart’s favorite thing. He loves anything that dangles from a wand, especially if it jingles, and he’ll just about go bananas for his favorite Greenies Savory Salmon treats.

Stewart cherishes the company of other cats (he’ll flop right on top of them while "sharing" your lap) and really needs the company of another energetic cat or kitten for a playmate. When his foster playmates were gone for two days to have surgery, he was left with older cats who just found him annoying and Stewart was a sad lost soul. He should be fine with children, and although he hasn’t met dogs his personality suggests he would likely be fine with a cat-friendly canine.

Thanks to the caring of one persistent volunteer (and a network that went to Boston and back), Stewart and his siblings were saved from last-minute euthanasia. Stewart would be thrilled to show you just how happy he is to be alive and to be with people... will you give this ultimate charmer that chance?
