READ FIRST PLEASE.  What a difference a couple weeks makes.  Kapers is one of the puppy mill dogs recently saved.  She is very sweet and has come out of her shell.  She has learned what toys are and how to play chase.  She will wrestle with her fellow canines and loves to be in the thick of all activities.  Kapers is so very excited to see you and dances at your feet until you pick her up.  She will sit in your lap completely relaxed now and will sneak in a few kisses here and there.  Kapers has learned to trust.  We are thrilled with how much she has changed in such a short period of time.

Due to her past, Kapers will most probably do best in a more calm living environment.  She is still becoming familiar with sounds outside of other dogs barking.  We'd like to see her gently introduced to the beauty of life outside of a cage, respecting that this may take a little time.  Kapers likes dogs of all sizes and is tolerant of puppies who are known to pester.  She is actually puppy-like herself as she is so playful.  Kapers has been fully vetted and is healthy.  What a relief!  She was recently spayed as well.

Please know, Kapers is NOT potty trained.  That will take patience and effort on the part of her new parents.  Her life prior to now has been in a wire cage.  No pee pads or blankets, just a wire cage.  They all had to use the bathroom where they slept and ate and lived.  Period.  That may be a hard habit to break or it may not be.  If you are an impatient person, please do not apply for any of the puppy mill dogs.  They need love and understanding and a willingness to show them what kindness is, no matter the frustrations.

Finally, all of these dogs were rescued by HSUS.  The Humane Society will be notified of who their adoptive parents are and they may follow up with you.  There is always great interest when a puppy mill is busted and the public likes to know the fate of these dogs.  Please note that as an adopter, you may be asked to take part in interviews or a follow up feature article.

About Pawfect Match Rescue and Rahibilitation

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all volunteer rescue organization devoted to saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, abusive situations and abondonment in North Carolina. Our members foster, transport and help the rescue efforts with their individual skills, experience, knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, their love of dogs.

At Pawfect Match Rescue we believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance regardless of their breed or age.

We take a different approach to rescue. We don’t try to save the masses; we just save ONE at a time and make them the best dog they can be by the time they find their forever homes.

By that we mean that we take them into our homes where they live amongst us and our pets and are treated as one of the family, not as a foster dog. We accomplish this by limiting our fosters to one or two per household.

Besides the basics of crate training and house training, we teach them basic obedience, we groom them, feed them a high quality dog food, and last but not least, we shower them with LOVE and attention that hopefully teaches them to trust again and realize that life really IS good..

We’ll never be able to save them all, no matter how many we try to pull and foster. So we believe that the one at a time approach with the extra TLC allows us to really KNOW the dogs and be able to match them more precisely with their new families.

This ends up being a win- win situation for all involved.

Pawfect Match is all volunteer and relys soley on adoption donation fees and public support. Most times our adoption donations do not cover our medical expenses.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step is to fill out our adoption application ,(on our website at under how to adopt) and email it to us, to begin the application process.

Once we receive your application, the second step will be to check your vet reference and talk to your personal references.

The third step is to schedule a home check. This is not to see what kind of a house you live in or how clean or dirty it is. It is simply to see if the “setup” i.e. yard size, fencing, etc. is compatible with your dog of interest. It also allows other animals in your household to meet a potential foster dog and see if they are going to get along.

After all three of these steps are completed there will be an adoption contract to sign and an adoption donation fee. Our fee is are $225.00, plus a $75.00 Training Fee that will be reimbursed once you show proof of completion of a positive reinforcement training course within six months of the adoption. This may seem high, but it is actually a bargain. Your new pet will be fully vetted, spayed or neutered, on heartworm preventive, flea and tick meds, micro-chipped, groomed, and well on his/her way with basic obedience and house training. All of our dogs will be adopted out with a “goody” bag, a collar and leash, nametag, and a free month of pet health insurance.
