My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing the Colors litter of kittens; all are medium-to-long haired. They were born about 8/8/16, and came to the shelter as a Stop the Cycle litter (mama kitty was spayed at our expense and returned to her owner).

These kittens spent several weeks outside learning about life from their mama; this has given them a sense of caution around new and unfamiliar people, places, and things, which means they could do well as indoor/outdoor cats, but most will also be just fine as indoor-only kitties. What can we say about Mauve... Mauve, Mauve, Mauve (shakes head slowly), sigh. Mauve is available to go home with any of her siblings with NO ADOPTION FEE - this is because Mauve is still extremely distrustful of humans, and we just haven't been successful winning her over so far. We will continue working with her, of course, but she is likely to be one of those kittens that hides behind the dresser for her first 3 weeks at home, sneaking out only at 3:00 a.m. to reconnoiter the house and stage a guerilla-style attack on the food bowl. We are confident that she will eventually decide to love her person (or maybe even a whole family of persons), but she will require patience and understanding. She will do best going with one of her siblings to give her that confidence boost (and to show her that, no matter HOW sure Mauve is about it, the humans are NOT going to eat the kittens). Have you always wanted to take on a project cat? Now is your chance! Having tamed a totally feral cat into a lap cat in 8 months, I am sure you will be able to make at least a couch cat out of Mauve in 3 months or less.

Mauve requests a calm, zen-like home - no toddler birthday parties with bursting balloons, creepy clowns, or screaming children for Mauve please.

We'd love to see all kittens go to homes that have another young, playful kitten, or to send 2 of them out as a pair (which gives you a great pair discount rate), but we do not require pair adoptions. If you prefer to adopt just one, and you don't have a similarly aged kitten at home already, please read our information on Single Kitten Syndrome . Then, when you apply for a single kitten, please let us know in the "Comments" field how you plan to deal with the "kitten crazies."

All kittens arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and with all age-appropriate vaccinations; most will need one or two booster vaccinations after arrival, and rabies vaccination between 4-6 months of age. Adoption fee for Mauve is suggested minimum $NO FEE if adopted with one of her siblings (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
