Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Wheaties is a 4 month old Havi-Wheaton mix who weighs about 12lbs now. He will be in the 20-30lbs range when full grown. He has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies and/or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. He will require regular grooming. He has a full coat now and boy oh boy his new home will need to be prepared for all the grooming that will come with this cute guy!
Wheaties is high energy. He's not just a puppy, he's definitely full of energy, full of life and full of himself. He was turned into our rescue by a senior who said he was just too much for her. He is a handful. He's curious. He's inquisitive. He's well socialized and he's full of mischief.
Wheaties does well with other dogs. He is an option to join a home that has another dog or go to doggy day camp or dog park. He will need a home that has a very specific plan for addressing his energy needs. Letting him play in the yard will result in a nice redecorated yard that will not resemble anything you see on TV makeovers unless it's the footage of what happens after a bulldozer wreaks havoc.
We will only consider a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years (their own dog, not parents or roommates dogs) and if there are children then they need to be over the age of 8.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
