AGE: 4 Years (Est DOB: 04/2012)
WEIGHT: 40 lbs

Puddin' is a sassy little lady looking to be the princess of your world. She is a little over 4 years old and only about 40 pounds. Sadly, Puddin's first 10 months were not good. She was tied up to a back porch and her owner would repeatedly go out and beat her. Luckily, the neighbors caught it on video and the owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Because of her past Puddin' does have some emotional scars that she will live with for the rest of her life, but who doesn't.

Puddin' loves being right by her foster mom's side whether she's going to the bathroom, watching tv on the sofa or it's time to go to bed. She is a hard core cuddler! She is worried with new people and needs time to go at her own pace to grow comfortable with them and trust them. She's a bit like a sassy cat in that she loves to cuddle, but it's on her terms and will growl if she is feeling overwhelmed by your affection. She is perfect in her communication and just backing off from what you were doing, and taking things slower, will help her gain the trust she needs. She wants to trust and just needs to know she is safe with you.

Puddin' is good with cats! She currently lives with 4 cats peacefully. As far as dogs, she co-exists with the other dog in her foster home and has previously lived with 2 other dogs. She is not easy to introduce to new dogs, guards toys from other dogs and will growl at other dogs, just like people, to let them know to back off. She also likes to have all the human attention and will butt in and growl when other dogs are being pet and will try to back them away from the human and wedge herself in the middle. Puddin' really does think this is her world and we are all just living in it.

What is awesome about Puddin' is that she loves to play fetch with abandon, will toss a toy around like a cat and bounce around like a puppy. She is a world champion cuddler and loves hanging out anywhere you're hanging out. She is great in the car as well! She has been in her foster home for 3 months now and every day she gains more trust to be snuggled, to let my arm rest on her backside when she is laying next to me, to let me clean her ears and let me wipe her down if it rains.

Her ideal home would be one with a backyard for her to play in. A home with no other dogs or super tolerant dogs and a savvy owner. Cats would be totally fine! An adopter who has patience and really gets to know her and lets her learn to trust at her own pace. Because when Puddin' trusts you, you will be her whole world, her safe place, her best friend and her refuge. She is a diva, but one worth the time and energy because her love for those in her inner circle is pretty hard core.

She is house trained, healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and micro-chipped. If you're interested in meeting and possibly adopting Puddin' please contact her foster mom Kat at

About Lulu's Locker Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lulu’s Locker Rescue is a nonprofit, volunteer-run companion animal rescue working to bring to light the plight of black cats and dogs in shelters as well as the misconceptions surrounding FIV cats. We aim to lower the euthanasia rate of these animals by educating the public and providing foster care as we seek out permanent homes. We are committed to the protection of the misjudged and wrongly stereotyped through compassion and respect, which we believe both animals and human beings deserve.

We are based out of Frankfort, IL, and rescue cats and dogs in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Our Adoption Process...

We encourage potential adopters to ask friends, family, and Lulu’s Locker about companion animal experiences in their lives. We want to ensure the animal we adopt to you fits well in your home environment. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about long-term animal care prior to adopting! Please contact us via email or phone 708-325-8581.

Everything we do is for the animals in our care, and is aimed at giving them the best possible chance of finding a permanent home.

- Fill out this online Adoption Application to get the process rolling! Copy and paste this URL into your browser -->

- Once your Application is completed, you will have a phone conversation with an adoption counselor.

- Once you’ve been approved, s/he will fill you in on the personalities, history, and behavior of the animals to allow you to make the best choice possible for your living situation. You can ask your counselor any questions you have regarding health, behavior, and long-term care.

- You and all members of your household will then be invited to visit the foster home or boarding facility where the animal is currently living. If you decide adoption is right for you, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee which covers the spay/neuter, wellness exam, vaccinations, microchip, and heartworm test (dogs only).

- Animals are subject to a home visit prior to completion of the adoption process.

- You will ALWAYS have continued support from Lulu’s Locker after your adoption! We invite you to contact us at any time with questions or concerns!
