Facts about Slider

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (All)
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Slider-DSH mobility challenged female, ~ 1 ½ yrs. (Oct. 2016)

Slider and her brother Piper were born in a Kentucky barn. Being little, black kittens to a barn cat they were pretty much left to fend for themselves. Only when Slider’s siblings started running around was it noticed that Slider had some trouble getting around. The farmer contacted rescue to see if they could help Slider and her brother Piper find a home able to care for them. Slider gets around fairly well, uses puppy pads and a litterbox most of the time, but needs a home familiar with mobility challenged kitties. A home where she will be loved and kindly cared for. Slider and Piper are a sibling pair, but can be adopted separately. Slider's adoption fee is $100 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption.

About Bourbon County Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Rescue BC is a multi-faceted, foster-based rescue. We only take animals on euthanasia lists. We vet them, get them healthy enough for adoption, alter them and place them in loving, forever homes. Every animal we rescue is vetted and tested according to veterinary standards, vaccinated, wormed, treated for parasites, altered and then placed for adoption.
We rescue from rural Kentucky shelters because those animals have no other chance of rescue. All county shelters in Kentucky euthanize for space, and many have kill rates over 90%. We have saved many animals from "death row" through the extensive foster and social networking-based work that we do. If you would be interested in fostering for us please email

Come Meet Our Pets...

12960 Middlebrook Road #520A
Germantown, MD 20874
Every other Saturday
4:00 - 8:00

Approved adopters will be reserved time to meet with a pet. Our volunteers will introduce you to the pets so you can spend time with a pet. Please clean up after the pet you are visiting, and keep the pet under control at all times. Puppies and cats should NOT be placed on the ground.
If you do not have an approved application, visiting hours are after 6:30 PM.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the adoption process is to request an application from Please allow 1-2 days to receive the application. Please be patient as we are 100% volunteer supported. We will need several days to make the calls on your application. The current pets in the home must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and annual exams, and currently on heartworm preventative for dogs. You must be 21 years of age and gainfully employed.
Once you are approved, a volunteer will contact you and invite you to a Meet and Greet to visit with a pet. All our pets are fostered in private homes and only come to the event when they have a potential adopter.
Plan to spend 1-2 hours at the Meet and Greet. It takes time to unload our pets and give them an opportunity to relieve themselves. You will have time to visit with your pet to decide if this is the right pet for your family. You will be required to sign a legal contract and we will go over the medical records with you. You will be required to take your new pet to the vet within 7 days of adopting.
We charge an adoption fee for all of our animals. This fee varies depending on the vetting requirements of that particular animal. The adoption fee is cash only.
