Briggs – 3 year old Mastiff Mix - Briggs was found as a stray in Bedford and narrowly escaped death as he was misdiagnosed with several problems. After GAP rescued him our vet determined he only had a slight skin infection and a heart murmur. He is neutered and vaccinated.
Briggs is a gorgeous mastiff mix and is a powerhouse. He would do well in a house with strong leadership as he is very strong and powerful. He does well at the dog park as long as other dogs are not aggressive with him, but if one is he needs to be controlled quickly. He can be leash aggressive again with dogs that are aggressive towards him. He does well with very docile or playful dogs that do not show any aggression but his power and strength would not make him a good candidate for a house with smaller pets. He also has a strong prey drive so cats are out of the question for Briggs.
Now for his overwhelming good qualities. He is a gentle giant to humans of all sizes. He is a happy, joyful, sensitive, devoted, and loving dog. He is a most devoted dog and will quickly become attached to someone who loves and cares for him. Some of his aggression towards other dogs may be his devotion to his foster mom who he may feel he needs to protect. Briggs will stand right in front of his foster mom and look at her with complete devotion. His focus when looking at people is very human like. While at home, he is right at her feet. Briggs has had a hard life and now that he is getting love, his gentle loving nature is obvious. He will make a best friend to someone very lucky to have him. He has a huge head and a sweet manatee face. He sleeps with his foster mom at night, doesn't snore, and is a perfect companion. He is perfectly house trained, is kenneled during the day, only barks when necessary, and rides well in the car. He listens attentively and responds well to commands.
Briggs is the kind of dog that comes around once in a lifetime. If you are a good fit for this gentle giant, please consider him. Contact foster mom Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
