My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alex is not part of BCIN’s rescue program.  Please contact Shyreen directly to ask questions about Alex or to meet him.  Her e mail is shy@dogonfun.net or by phone at the 626-339-1354, mobile is 626-893-2400.  There will be a small rehoming fee for Alex.

My name is Shyreen Russell. I own a boarding and training facility in Covina CA. I currently am trying to place a rescue border collie mix named Alex in a home but am not having any luck. He is about 1.5 years old, house trained, and knows all of his basic obedience commends by treat training as well as praise/correction.

Alex came to me by a training with an older couple that couldn't handle his activity level. The husband works many hours and the wife doesn't like dogs. While the husband was at work, the wife would occasionally walk him but then he was in a small confined area the rest of the time. When the husband was home, Alex was very high energy and allowed to jump, play bite and torment him. Alex is now not very trusting, it takes him a little time to warm up, but once he does he is very loving.

Here, Alex is becoming more balanced and manageable but he is going "kennel crazy". He constantly paces and barks, causing him to have diarrhea. I have started taking him home at night and to my surprise he is just a normal dog. He still has normal puppy behavior like taking things he shouldn't, getting in the trash, chewing etc... He is also a little "bossy" with my other 5 dogs but is truly a sweet boy. No aggression toward large or small dogs.

The problem is I am in Covina and this is not a community that has large properties nor is it a place that is knowledgeable about this breed.  I would be happy to offer free training to anyone that adopts him if needed. He's been with us about 6 months and I just feel terrible that I haven't been able to place him.
